Octadrop / Support
Octadrop
Prepare audio and copy it to your Octatrack card. Octadrop converts samples to 44.1 kHz WAV and keeps your folders intact.
Need a hand?
Email support@simplest.agency. Include your macOS version, Octadrop version, the source file’s format and any error message you see. Please don’t send audio files unless we ask for them.
Getting samples onto your card
Connect your CompactFlash card with a card reader, or connect your Octatrack in USB DISK MODE. In Octadrop, choose an existing Set’s AUDIO folder on the mounted card, or a folder inside it.
Drop in audio files or whole folders, or use Choose. Check the queue, then click Convert & Send. Files and subfolders are recreated beneath your chosen destination. When the transfer finishes, use Eject card before disconnecting.
Common questions
Which formats can I use?
WAV, AIFF, FLAC and MP3. Each file is checked before transfer; unsupported or multichannel audio is rejected with an explanation. CAF is not supported. Output is 44.1 kHz, 16- or 24-bit WAV. Turn on Smaller files for 16-bit output.
How are loud peaks handled?
During conversion, peaks near full scale are softly clipped with a gentle curve, including any peaks above full scale in floating-point audio or created by resampling. Lower levels stay unchanged; Octadrop does not normalize or trim the file. WAVs that are already ready for the Octatrack are copied byte for byte.
Will it change my originals or overwrite samples?
Your source files are never modified. Existing files on the card are kept; name clashes get a numbered suffix. Octadrop does not assign sample slots or edit Octatrack projects or .ot files.
Why can’t I choose a folder on my Mac?
The destination must be on a mounted external volume, inside an existing Set’s AUDIO folder. Folders on an internal drive are refused. Connect the card and check that it appears in Finder before choosing it.
What happens if I cancel or the app quits?
Files already sent stay on the card. Octadrop cleans up its unfinished output when it can. If cleanup is pending, reconnect the same card and reopen the app. Unknown or changed files are preserved.
Why won’t another file fit?
Check the card’s free space and the destination folder’s contents. Octadrop checks capacity and enforces a 1,024-entry limit in each destination folder. Choose another folder or free space before trying again.
